today was the first official beautiful day in the city in…god knows how long. this is my absolute favorite day of the year, as I’m sure it’s everyone else’s.
it was a breath of fresh air walking down 20th today. everyone was smiling, the wind was warm, and it was as if all of our problems vanished. we all were just excited to feel the sun on our skins again after another brutal winter.
I’ve always loved winter. being born in february it almost feels like I’m forced to, but I do love it. I love the quiet of snow, the coziness of staying inside on a Friday night, and the ease of it all. I know there are a lot of winter haters out there but unfortunately I adore it.
but it’s days like today that remind me why I’m so happy to be living in New York. we were all just eager to be in nature, whether it was just to grab a coffee at our favorite spot or sit on a porch drinking aperol spritz’s. there’s such a huge sense of togetherness and community on days like today.
and although this winter really felt like it was never going to end, it’s relieving to know there will always be that first 75 degree day every year. the sun will shine again and again and the winter will show us it’s darkest days over and over.
and yet, no matter how long the cold lingers, the warmth always finds its way back—proof that even the darkest seasons are never final.
